HomeMy WebLinkAbout1.01 Supplemental informationMay, 2012 TO: South Canyon Property Owners FR: Tom Barnes, Parks and Recreation Director RE: South Canyon Archery Range Thanks for your input regarding the location of a proposed archery
range on city property in South Canyon. The interest in establishing a range and providing opportunity for instruction and practice has been met with enthusiasm and financial support
from local, state, and national programs. I am pleased that this project will be implemented in coming months, and confident our site selection will meet with general approval. After
soliciting input from neighbors, we have suggested an alternative site for county planning and zoning consideration. The new location is visible from 1-70, has easy access, and provides
a range area that will require minimal site preparation. Please see the location on the enclosed mapping. A "bonus" to this site is the opportunity to create a walking trail to the building
ruins, a path that will NOT be located in the shooting area. 41~ Tom Barnes, CPRP Director, Parks and Recreation
Tom J. Barnes From: Sent: To: Subject: Attachments: Tom_, Marice Wednesday, AM Tom J. Barnes Fwd: Coal Camp maps SCCCHSTA.PDF; SCSHS.PDF I am pleased that the four archery stations intended
for the mill area of Coal Camp will be so non-invasive to the history that we are trying to preserve there. I think that multi-use and partnerships are always a good starting ground
to get anything done, as long as one project doesn't diminish the other. Certainly the plans for this area are good. I agree with you that big dumpsters and portapotties are not needed
because they probably would attract more than archers and history buffs. I particularly like the plans for a passive trail that will lead to the few remaining ruins in the mill area
with some plagues for information. I think the usage by these two entities are a win-win situation and, with more people out there, will cut down on the present garbage dumping. Please
find the maps attached. If I can help in any way, please let me know. Thank you for including me, Marice Doll, Chair Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Glenwood Springs
