The combined domestic water (drinking & irrigation) storage tank size is based on figure of 100gal/person/day with the capacity to store enough water for 3 days, assuming a maximum household population of 4 people per dwelling. Using these numbers we have calculated a necessary storage volume of 1,200 gallons for in home use for each lot. Each dwelling shall also have additional water storage for irrigation purposes. This storage shall be contained in the same storage tank as the drinking water. The storage volume for irrigation is also based on a 3 day supply. Calculations for storage were based off of a report compiled by the Colorado Division of Water Resources. Based on 202,030 gal /acre of water to irrigate bluegrass for a season, each lot will irrigate up to 12,000 square feet or 0.275 acres. There are 210 days in the areas growing season which makes 962ga1 /day for 1 acre of bluegrass. Having a 3 day supply in storage would require 2,886 gal /3 days for 1 acre. Using 12,000 square feet or 0.275 acres of home /garden or yard area form #4 in the Highline Ranch Covenants the additional storage volume is 794 gallons. Therefore each lot will have storage tank capable of storing 2,000 gallons of water for combined domestic and irrigation use. FIRE PROTECTION WATER STORAGE All residential dwellings constructed on the lots shall have appropriate fire protection water storage for their fire suppression systems. The storage shall have adequate capacity to supply a minimum discharge density of 0.02 gallons per minute per square foot for a minimum duration of 30 minutes. For dwellings less than 3,600 sq f a minimum of 2,100 l:lgns is required to meet the NFPA 13D criteria per the Rifle Fire Protection District :, p,OQ [/ 140,, i . , ,w t 9•. W r O.
