Continuously monitor field welding of mufti-pall 318" fillet welds as required by code. All work performed In accord with the approved specifications (lncludlng sweating-out material to ensure moisture-free, low-hydrogen condition required for E7018 structural electrodes and welding In colder weather) as provided and applicable AWS 01 .1 welding code, ASTM and 2009 / 2012 IBC (building code requirements), as well as the structural engineer. No problems noted. Welding at moment frames at upper level framing, gridllnes 1 & SIE-H received post-inspection only as contractor was not made aware that Inspection of connections was required beforehand; these connections visually appear to have been executed properly with mufti-pass flare-bevel welda. I have Inspected many timea over the past few years with Black Magic Walding and on those occasions all shop welding I fabrication and field welding has alwaya been perfonned In my witness by certified welders using property stored electrodes and approved materials per AWS 01.1 welding code, approved plans and 1pectficatlons. Although %" A325 hlgh-atrength bolts were used in bolted ateet-to-ateel connections, engineer made no requirement for the connections to be fully pre-tensioned ("snug-tight" only). I have spoken with the structural engineer Dale Kaup (of Kaup Engineering, design professional of record) and discussed Inspection protocol with him. He Is aware of the circumstances and conditions for this project and Is comfortable with the flmHed Inspection that I've been able to provide.
