The property is located in Missouri Heights, in an area where OWTS and wells are necessary. SITE CONDITIONS An accessory building with a sink and toilet, used by 2 -people daily, presently exists. The OWTS has already been installed and was observed during our site visit. SUBSURFACE The subsurface analysis was conducted by a review of an existing soil report and observations of soils on site. A Soil Investigation Report was compiled for the subject property on October 17, 2007 by Colorado Engineering & Geotechnical Group, Inc., Project # 073-0184. Three test holes were excavated as part of the soil investigation. Depths of the excavations varied from 5 -feet to 9 -feet. No groundwater or bedrock was encountered. Soils were described as clayey -silty sand with rocks and cobbles, brown to light brown, fine to coarse, medium dense to dense. A copy of the Colorado Engineering & Geotechnical Group, Inc. report is attached. DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS The OWTS design is based on a toilet and hand sink, used by 2 -people. An average daily wastewater flow of 70 GPD will be used. A design flow of 113 GPD is calculated and requires a minimum tank capacity of 141 gallons (minimum 750 gallons per regulations). A percolation rate of 25 MPI will be Page 2 used and is appropriate for the sandy soils described in the Soil Investigation Report. A minimum of 57 square feet with the use of gravelless chamber trenches is required. The OWTS installed includes a 1000 -gallon Norwesco septic tank, a 7 -hole Tuf-Tite distribution box, and five Biodiffuser ARC 36 chambers (61.7 square feet). The system appeared to be functioning properly at the time of the site visit. RECOMMENDATIONS • Install a 2 -way clean-out within 5 -feet of the building. • Insulate the pipe coming out of building with blue board if installation depth is less than 24 - inches. • Install effluent filter on outlet tee of septic tank. • Install observation port on last chamber in trench. • Trench area should be covered with native vegetation. • No heavy equipment should be used over absorption area and no large animals should be corralled over the absorption area. OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE The surface of the drain field should be seeded. Vegetation is an important factor in drain field performance. Erosion control should be practiced prior to and during re -vegetation. Geo -fabrics or plastics should not be used over the drain field. No heavy equipment, machinery, or materials should be placed on backfilled drain field. Livestock should not graze on the drain field. Plumbing fixtures should be checked to ensure that no additional water is being discharged to OWTS. For example, a running toilet or leaky faucet can discharge hundreds of gallons of water a day and harm a drain field. The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years, or as needed gauged by measurement of solids in the tank. The effluent filter should be cleaned annually, or as needed. Non -biodegradable materials should not be placed into the OWTS. Grease should not be placed in drains. Loading from a water softener should not be discharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directed into the OWTS. Mechanical room drains should not discharge into the OWTS. Please call with questions. Sincerely, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC 0.0tA (1.1 Ov-)6AA8 Carla Ostberg, MPH, REHS 3 copies Page 3 Cut in hillside near OWTS installation. Another cut bank near OWTS installation. Outlet tee of septic tank. Recommend Page 4 Page 5 Approximate location of gravelless chamber trench. Recommend fencing off field area and discontinue use for any staging, trailer parking, or large animals. Native vegetation should be re-established in the area over the trench. iL HOUSE PARCEL 4 0 0 PROPERTY LINE ACCESSORY BUILDING N EXISTING 1000 -GALLON, TWO-COMPARTMENT SEPTIC TANK DISTRIBUTION BOX ARC ADS CHAMBERS J O SITE PLAN AND EXISTING OWS NOT TO SCALE Date: 08/13/12 Revision: Designed By: CO Drawn By: ANG P.O.
