Subject: Withdrawal of Chevron Cuttings Pit Special Use Permit Application
Dear Dave,
As discussed in our phone conversation of April 3, 2008, Chevron would like to officially withdrawal our
submittal for the Cuttings Pit Special Use Permit application. Chevron's Piceance Program for full field
development now indicates utilizing well pads as the preferred path forward for managing drill cuttings.
The Cuttings Pit design was based on preliminary estimates of the anticipated volumes of cuttings from
the drilling operations. Lessons learned from the actual operations have shown that drill cuttings can be
contained within our existing and planned drill sites. A number of the on -pad pits have been designed to
accommodate anticipated drill cuttings.
Limiting cuttings storage to well pads will eliminate the need to monitor / service an additional facility and
the corresponding infrastructure to support that site. It also provides consistent Colorado Oil and Gas
Conservation Commission oversight of all of these operations.
For clarification the proposed Cuttings Pit location was about 0.3 mile west of CR 211 on an existing well
pad road, located about 1.3 miles north of the intersection of CR 204 and 211.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely
Timothy J. Barrett, P.E.
