RE: Forge for blacksmith shop
Steve,
Not quite a sealed letter from an engineer, but I think it meets the intent of the code. We will require the installer to
monitor the unit once it is up and running to make sure the design meets the actual in use conditions of the flue stack
and forge.
Thanks,

Re: Forge Venting
This letter is in response to our visit to your facility to look at the forge that is being installed in the new
blacksmith building.
As you can imagine, this is not a common installation but after doing some research and getting with
other people online we have come up with the following conclusion.
The current location of the forge should be just fine at 18 to 20 inches from the back wall. We will install
double wall stainless flue pipe straight through the roof and extend it at least 4' from the roof with curb
and cap. The stainless flue will be rated at over 2200 degrees which according to research greatly
exceeds the expected heat from the unit. The combustible part of the roof will be cut back to at least Y'
from the flue.
I see no reason why the forge cannot be installed as designed and have no reservations about installing
the flue on it.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 970-945-9910
Sincerely
VM!
