GENERAL NOTES
1. GENERAL:
A. These plans do not include the necessary components for the
safety of the building or equipment during construction. The
Contractor is responsible for all work relating to construction,
erection methods,bracing, shoring, rigging guys, scaffolding,
formwork and other work olds required to safely perform the work
shown.
B. Typical Details os shown on the drawings ore intended to be
typical and shall apply to oil similar situations occurring on
the project, whether or not they ore keyed in each location.
C. Visits to the job site by the engineer or inspectors to observe
the construction do not In any way mean that they are guarantors
of the contractors work, nor responsible for coordination, supervision,
nor safety at the job site.
2. SOIL DATA USED IN DESIGN',
A. Allowable soil bearing pressure 2000psf (assumed) for
foundations bearing on native granular sails.
3. EXCAVATION AND OACKFILL'
A. Entire area round each foundation must be thoroughly probed
for underground pipe, conduit, high pressure lines, etc., before any
excavation is to begin in addition to performing all Colorado & Utah
One -Coll proceedures.
B. All structural backfill shall be placed under the direction of
Contractors representotino.
C. The Contractor representative shall inspect the open excavation to
verify the bearing material, approve compaction & perform
compaction tests, in accordance with the best practices.
C. Backfill material shall be thoroughly compacted at optimum
moisture content as required by the best practices.
E. The foundation bearing surfaces are to be kept dry and stable
until the structures ore complete and ready for backfilling.
4. CONCRETE:
A. Design end construction shall be in accordance with ACI Building
Cade (ACI 316-06).
B. Cement shall be Type 1/II or Type 1/IIA Pertland cement
conforming to ASTM C150, latest edition.
C. Concrete shell develop the following compressive strength within
28 days (fro) unless otherwise noted' . 4000 psi. Water
Cement ratio < 050
D. All concrete shall be stone aggregate, unless noted otherwise.
E. All concrete shall be moist cured for minimum of 7 days or
cured by use of an approved membrane compound.
F. All exposed edges of grade beams and mats shall hove 3/4"
chamfer.
G. In foundation grade beams and walls, all construction joints shall
be keyed. Maximum length of pour in walls & slabs without offsets
shall be sixty (60) feet. After pouring footings. welt minimum four
hours before placing concrete grade beams or piers.
H. Use air -entrained concrete of 5-7% or by volume.
I. Wall shall be formed using o foundotion forming system. Pouring
foundation wall directly against earth will not be permitted,
5. REINFORCEMENT:
A. Design, detailing, fabrication and placement shell be in accordance
With ACI Codes and Manuals, ACI 318-08.
B. Steel reinforcement shall be new, deformed billet steel, meeting ASTM Stendord
A615 -(latest revision). All rebor shall be Grade 60, unless noted otherwise. Shop drawings
shall be marked accordingly
C Reinforcement in all grade beams shall be continuous around corners or corner bars
provided.
D. All rebar splices shall conform to the values shown unless otherwise noted:

Increase lap lengths shown above by 25% where bars are spaced closer than 6" O.C. or
less than 3" from face of member to edge of bar.
E. Provide a minimum of 2-#5 bars around openings, extend 2-0" beyond the opening.
F. Provide concrete protection for reinforcement as follows:
1. Concrete poured against earth . 3"
2. Concrete poured in forms but exposed to ground or weather 'a"
G. Provide galvanized or plastic -footed occessaries far all concrete surface exposed to
weather or view.
H. Remforcing steel for slobs on grade shall be adequately supported on pre
manufactured units to keep the reinforcing properly positioned. Lifting of the reinforcing
during concrete placement shall not be permitted. Tack welding or welding of reinforcing
shall not be permitted,
I. All reinforcing shall be cold bent and securely Ned in place.
6. STRUCTURAL STEEL,
A. Design, fabrication and construction shall be in accordance with the latest
AISC Specifications.
B. All structural steel shall conform to ASTM Serial Designation A36 (MIN.)
C. All steel bar grating and steel handrail shall be hot dipped galvanized. All
structural steel shall be shop prime coated and hove a shop applied finish coating.
D. All welding or gas cutting shall be in accordance with the current standards of the
Amerison Welding Society. All welding shall be performed by nertified welders qualified by
the American Welding Society Stondord Qualification Procedure.
E. All welding shall be performed using E60XX welding rod.
E MINIMUM WELDS: AISC specification, not less that 3/16" fillet, continuous unless
otherwise noted.
G. All structural bolted connections shall be bolted with minimum 3/4" dlo. ASTM A325
high - strength bolts unless otherwise specified, Two grades of bolts shrill not be used
for the some diameter size.
H. All anchor bolts shall conform to ASTM A325, unless noted otherwise. All anchor bolts
shag hove double nuts or upset threads.
7. GROUT:
A. All grout products shall be by Five Star Products, Inc. or on approved equal with
identical properties
B. All grout storage, preparation, end installation shall be in accordance with the
manufacturers recommendations.
C. All cementitaus grouts shall be nonshrmk in accordance with ASTM C827
end contain no expansive cements or metallic powders or filings_
0. All epoxy -based grouts shall be nonshrink A occordonce with ASTM C827
(Modified),
