Dear Ms. Winter:
I am writing regarding your resolution #80-169 granting
issuance of a special use permit for sand and gravel operations.
You requested an explanation on condition number 2 at the bottom
of the resolution.
The principal use as defined in Section 2.02.52 of the
Garfield County Zoning Resolution refers to the purpose on function
for which a lot is intended. In this case, the "lot" is the 48 acres
upon which your gravel operation will take place. There is no other
principal use on that lot, and you are in compliance with the regula-
tions. As long as the gravel operation remains the only use of that 48
acres, there will be no problems with conforming to the resolution.
On August 11, I will take your special use permit to the
County Commissioners for their signature. I will mail you that permit
as soon as I receive the signed copy from them. If you have any
further questions, regarding this matter, please contact me at this
office.
Sincerely,

Dear Davis:
Enclosed is additional information to be included with Flatiron Paving
Company's initial application for Special Use (submitted to your office June
4, 1980) for the Clough Pit amendment.
I would like to reiterate that both the Mined Land Reclamation Board appli-
cation and bonding will be taken care of after we have county approval. Also,
as no additional maps are needed per our conversation today, none are enclosed.
A letter from the owner of this property, W.F. Clough, stating that Flatiron
Paving Company has the legal right to enter and mine sand and gravel on his
property will be forwarded to your office as soon as we receive it from him.
Please let me know as soon as possible if all concerns have been answered
or if you need further information.
Thank you for your help.
