A flood study was completed by Buys & Associates for the development of the existing bridge that crosses Parachute Creek 140 ft south of the proposed pump house. The topographical data used in that study was provided by W. H. Smith & Associates. After correction the 100-yr flood elevation is found to be 5594.1 ft at the pump house and proposed finished floor for the pump house is 5596.0 ft. The pump house will be approximately L.9 ft above the 100-yr flood. The pump house location will be secure from unreasonable flood impacts. 6. a) Parachute Creek's banks are armored in the immediate vicinity of the pump house. The pumping arm support columns will be integrated with existing armoring to protect against potential scour. b) The bottom elevation of the proposed pumping arm is 5597.5 ft. The corrected elevation for the 100-yr flood elevation at the pump house is 5594.1 ft. This provides the pump arm with approximately 3.4 ft of clearance above the 100-yr flood elevation. The pump arm will be relatively safe from all but the most impassable of debris. c)As noted, the proposed pumping arm will be approximately 3.4 ft higher than the peak flood stage of the 100-yrflood event. The hose isto be retractable and flexible. Both of these design features will serve to protect the hose from potential debris damage. There is no need to provide this facility with a retractable pump arm in addition to the clearance provided. d) The proposed location for the pump arm support column will have negligible impact on the carrying capacity of Parachute Creek. !1 37502 6-25-2013
