Investigation of Covered Barbeque Structure
Potential code -compliant defects in this project were notified to this firm on August 14, 2013
The General Contractor provided hand sketches & photographs of the work in progress. This firm
performed code -related structural calculations to determine if the structure would be able to withstand
localized anticipated snow & wind loads. The GC informed the firm of the methods and materials used to
date by telephone conversation and email.
Repetitive roof truss system members were determined to be adequate to withstand snow and wind Toads
for the structure. Main longitudinal rafter beams & connections (ridge & column bearing) were calculated
and comply with anticipated loads. The 12 -inch in diameter beams marginally comply with total load with
the span of 22 -feet. It is recommended that the General Contractor provide an additional timber column
in-line with the masonry & rock barbeque structure to cut the overall span to 16 -feet.
Quantitative analysis of the aforementioned structure are available if requested.
