Best of luck as you progress in your project and let us know if we can be of assistance in your planning. Regards, Fred From: Springfield, Roy L[mailto:roy.I.springfieldCaexxonmobil.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 1:32 PM To: Fred Jarman Subject: Colony Mine Update Mr. Jarman: Recently your office approved a Building Permit for ExxonMobil to construct a vertical barrier at the Colony Mine. Advances in our modeling capabilities and recent lab tests have provided valuable information that potentially mitigates the need for the field experiment planned at the Colony Mine for 2013. The field work scheduled at the Colony Mine for the remainder of 2012 and into 2013 will be deferred while the design work on a new experiment is progressed. Future field experiments may be conducted at Colony Mine and/or at the newly awarded RD&D lease. ExxonMobil will continue to take a careful, phased approach to thoroughly evaluate oil shale technology before making decisions on commercial scale projects. We did build the road that was approved by an earlier Grading Permit but the barrier was not constructed. Best Regards, Roy L.
