As we spoke, more information is needed for me to complete my review. Although we went over my questions, I thought it best to put them down in writing so the project can move forward . My comments are: • What is the size of the tanks? • What type of "oils" are they going to contain per the fire code classifications? • MSDS sheets will be required. • The fire district has a hazardous materials declaration packet that has been given to your company for this site when you expanded your building. It appears that now would be a good time to complete this which should include the proposed oil tanks and any other hazardous materials that will be stored in the proposed storage building. If you think this might delay this project to long, I would be willing to just have the information for the shed and storage building submitted. It is important to fully complete this packet at some time in the near future. • How are the "empty'' containers going to be stored? My experience has shown that most empty containers are not empty and that storage and containment would be appropriate. • Placarding will be required per NFPA 704. 1 • Containment: more information or direction is needed on what type of containment will be in place. Is the tanks doubled walled so the containment is built in, is there built in containment on the concrete pads ... ? • Storage shed may not be adequately design to store flammable liquids. As noted above, more information is needed on what you will store but if vapors can collect under the eaves or within the walls of the shed, a re- design may be appropriate. I know you are working on some or all of the above items, and I look forward to completing the plan review for this project. Please let me know if you have any questions. Kevin C.
