We understand that you are adding dead load to your existing roof for a new roof assembly per
the enclosed sketch you provided. The building department is requesting an engineer to verify
that the existing roof is capable to support the additional dead load plus live load. Existing
drawings were also provided by you for as built conditions from Jorgensen Design Services
dated 3-25-91.
We have determined using the as built drawings that the additional dead load to the existing roof
is acceptable per our structural analysis.
In summary, it is acceptable to install the new roof system as shown in the enclosed sketch on to
the existing roof which meets or exceeds the current snow load of 40 psf.
