Subject: Follow Up Excavation Observation, Proposed Covered Porch Addition,
1890 County Road 102, Garfield County, Colorado
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Piccinati:
As requested, a representative of Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. observed the
excavation at the subject site on October 17, 2012 as a follow up to our findings of the
bearing conditions presented in our report dated October 11, 2012.
At the time of our observation yesterday afternoon, the footing forms at the east and west
ends had been removed and the bearing soils had been reworked and compacted by Jim
Marshall, and were firm. A few additional in-place basalt boulders were exposed in these
areas. The soils appeared suitable for foundation suppott. A shallow crushed rock depth
of about 6 inches can be placed to design bearing level.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
Sincerely,
HEPWORTH — PAWLAK GEOTECHNICAL, INC.
