In the past, I too have seen the building wrap/water-resistive barrier (WRB) applied prior to the adhesive flashing at door and window openings. I spoke with the local sales representative of Sierra Pacific Windows to review their recommended installation practice that Gabe followed while installing the windows. As shown in the attached PDF, they recommend that the adhesive flashing (in this case Vycor, see attached PDF -Method A) is applied directly to the exterior sheathing. They are following the ~ (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) recommendations of sealing the window flange to the sheathing in case water gets behind the WRB. Finally, the Tyvek WRB is applied and taped or caulked at the window/door opening per their recommendations. See attached PDF, specifically pages 8 & 9. As long as Gabe follows these guidelines, I feel he would be in compliance with the recommendations of the various product manufacturers . Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments . Thank you for your time in this matter . Bob Mehall Robert Mehall/ARCHITECT, Inc .
