This map unit is on uplarn benches, foot slo ~s , and alluvial fans. Elevati01 is 6,000 to 7,000 feet. The average annual precipitation is'13 to 16 inches, d1e average annual air tanperature is 42 to 46 degrees F, am the average frost-free reriod is ~5 to 105 days. Th e native vegetation is mainly grasses, forbs, and woody shrubs. Included in this unit are snall areas of Morval, Goslin and Tridell soils. The Morval and Goslin soi ls have slo~s of less than 12 ~rcent. Included areas make up about 15 percent of the total acreage. The Armells soil is deep and well drained. It formoo in alluviwn derived dominantly from redbed sandstone and shale intermixed with gyp:;iferous material. Typical ly, th2 surface layer is reddish brown cobbly sandy loain 5 inches ti1ick. Th e upper 9 inches of the underlying material is gravelly loam. 'Ihe next 12 i nches is very gravelly loam. Th2 next 34 inches to a depth of 60 inches or rrore is very cobbly, fine sandy loam. Tne soil is calcareous throughout the profil e . The amount of stones and cobbles increases with depth. Some fl agstones are in the profile in some areas.
