RE: Swimming Pool - HLR Headquarters Geotechnical Inspection
Dear Greg:
This letter is intended to summarize our findings regarding a geotechnical inspection of a
proposed subsurface swimming pool located on the High Lonesome Ranch headquarter complex,
0275 County Road, DeBeque, CO, 81630.
It is our understanding that the proposed swimming pool will be placed below grade with depths
ranging from one to five feet. The pool structure consists of a flexible insert that will
accommodate slight variable settlement.
The site was inspected on April 3, 2013 and representative soil samples were visually analysis
and classified. The underlying soils are predominately sandy silts with trace amounts of clay
(less than 5%) and the soil was moist at the time of analysis.
It is our opinion that the existing soils are suitable for bearing of the excavated pool and that the
probability for expansive soils is minimal. We do recommend that the subgrade be compacted
prior to installation and a sand or pea gravel layer be placed between the subgrade and pool
insert to minimize any differential settlement.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide this report and please feel free to give - a call with
any questions.
