I only have information from the contractor to go on, and mostly it is not totalty complete, and sometimes it is self serving. I can only address my comments on what data I get from the field. SAK — Original Message — From: Dave Mead To: westar@rof.net Cc: Andy Schwaller Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2005 2:30 PM Subject: Letter to Fred Nicholson dated 16 August 2005 Stephen, I read the captioned letter and I cannot pass up the chance to correct your misinformation. I did not approve the pour. I told Fred that he could pour at his own risk but I would not approve it without your approval. I take my position seriously and always look at the engineers drawings. It is for this reason that we ask for engineer's letters or revised detail drawings when we see a difference. The footings shown on your attached sketch were poured round with a diameter of 48" instead of the 42" square as called for on the drawings. The very slight difference in footing area will have no affect on the design requirements. 2. lam nor sure what you are looking for on the footing step. The detail is clearly shown on the drawing. and is included on one your sketches. If the step was constructed as shown on the drawing it will meet the design criteria_ f understand from our recent conversation that the building inspector actually looked at the footing step prior to pouring concrete and approved the pour. Since I did not do the inspection I cannot comment further. Regards, Stephen A. Kesler, P.E. President xc: File. Attachments: Nicholson sketches, (3) pages.
