Box 4229 2399 River Road Grand Junction, Colorado 81502 Project No 15 -004G -D1 Subject: Review of Micropile Foundation Load Testing, Pfaff Residence, East Elk Creek, Garfield County, Colorado Dear Mr. McFerron, RJ Engineering reviewed micropile load test data for the Pfaff Residence micropiles al East Elk Creek, Garfield County, Colorado Mays Construction Specialties conducted one micropile verification test and one proof test on production piles to verify assumed soil strength parameters. The tests were performed in tension, which we believe is more conservative than a compression test. Therefore, the measured deflections would typically be more than if the micropile were tested in compression. The verification test was loaded to 2.0 times the design load (63,000 pounds) and the proof test to 1.6 times design load (50,400 pounds) The total measured deflection was 0 06 and 0 10 inches, respectively, at the design Toad. The tests were conducted in general conformance with FHWA guidelines and the test results are attached We believe test results indicated movements are within acceptable design limits (see attached) Based on review of the test data, it appears the micropiles installed by Mays Construction Specialties, Inc. were in general conformance with plans provided by RJ Engineering & Consulting, Inc.. dated January 27, 2015.
