In order to understand the scope of the work intended under a permit application and expedite the
issuance of a permit it is important that complete information be provided. Adequate and complete
information will prevent delays in the plan review process. Reviewing a plan and the discovery that
required information has not been provided by the applicant may result in the delay of the pend
issuance and in proceeding with building construction. The owner or contractor may be required to
provide this information before the plan review may proceed. This causes delays because other
plans that are in line for review may be given attention before the new information may be reviewed
after it has been provided to the Buildng Department.
Please review this document to determine if you have enough Information to design your
project and provide adequate Information to facilitate a plan review. If you do not, it may be
helpful to obtain a book titled "Dwelling Construction Under the Uniform Building Code".
This book Is available to you through this department at our cost. Also, please consider
using a design professional for assistance in your design and a construction professional for
construction of your project
To provide for a more understandable plan in order to determine compliance with the building,

Phil Vaughan Construction Management
1038 County Road 323
Rifle, CO 81650
Attention: Mr. Phil Vaughan
Subject: Electrical Building
Rifle Gas Processing Plant
IJS Highway 6 & 24
Garfield County, Colorado
Job No. GS -4000
FAX NU. P. 02/02
You informed us that a one-story, steel -frame, electrical building will be
constructed at the site. The building will have plan dimensions of 30 feet by 16 feet
and a maximum height of about 12 feet. At this writing the building foundation is
planned as a 2 -foot wide, 2 -foot deep, continuous perimeter footing. The floor slab
will be monopoured with the footing. We understand maximum building foundation
loads will be Tess than 3,000 psf.
In our opinion, the electrical building should be supported on a mat of densely
compacted, structural fill at least 2 feet thick. The bottom of the sub -excavated area,
prior to structural fill mat placement, should be at feast 2 feet below the bottom of
footings. The structural fill should extend laterally at least 1 foot beyond the building
footprint. Recommendations for s ♦r tural fill presented in our geotechnical

1. Formwork and reinforcing bars were in place for the 9390 Compressor Foundation.
Some anchor bolts were installed and held in place with wood templates. All
reinforcing was placed in accordance with the design drawings. Concrete pouring
procedures and additional methods of stabilizing anchor bolts to ensure accurate
placement were reviewed with the concrete contractor Jason Metcalf.
2. The Instrument Air Compressor Building Foundation was formed and ready for the
concrete pour. No design drawings were available for verifying the inspection. A grid
of #5 bars was placed in the center of a 6" slab with turned down edges at the
perimeter. All reinforcing was placed per the same layout as the adjacent MCC
building. Oddo Engineering will verify the design upon receipt of building and
equipment information and provide as built drawings as required.
