The jack stands are constructed with %" threaded rods inserted into 1 a" pipes, and welded to a w -beam section with a 10 x 12 inch footprint. At each end, the jack stands can be supported by the concrete footing. At intermediate locations, the footprint shall be enlarged to a 16 x 16 inch area bearing on the gra%el, constructed with c.m.u. blocks or a poured 8 inch thick concrete pad. It is my understanding a steel plate (314" min. thickness) will be used bemeen the jack stands and supporting footings to spread out the Toads. The supports shall be spaced no greater than 10 feet. C.M.U. piers will be required at some locations, since there are not enough jack stands. At these locations, the steel plate shall be set on the ground to distribute the loads. The blocks shall be oriented ‘k ith cells. walls facing top to bottom for maximum strength. Should you have any questions, please call. Sincerely, EQ,^J,i'r" l<4349m Ernest Kollar, PE
