HomeMy WebLinkAboutFile NotesFile Notes Eagle Springs Met with Ken Sack the Owner David Bartholomew and I did a site visit to see the condition of a building used as a slaughter house business. The structure had been remodeled without a permit with the installation of a large walk-in work in refrigerator. In a sense, a building within a building. The existing building appeared to have a small office and bathroom. We could not find a septic but the building may have a shared a septic with the house nearby. A storage tank was installed on the NW end. As per Mr. Sack, this was to store the material from the floor drains. Another pipe was inst— alTe-through the wall to the outside of the SW corner. Mr. Sack said that was for collecting blood from the slaughter process. The framing for the refrigerated box may be in question. The attachments from the existing building to the refrig structure were not adequate. It did not appear the electricity was done to code with bare romex wire and unsupported electrical conduit. The refri units did no appear to have drains. Large areas of unprotected foam insulation were expose which would be a fire hazard. As per Mr. Sack, the prior owner was Frank Billmeyer. He said the building had been a cabinet shop. We took pictures of the inside and walked around the outside. It did not appear that any animals had been slaughter in the structure. They were still moving equipment into the structure. I explained some of the issues with Mr. Sack and said that a design professional would need to review the structure as well as our inspectors. I explained that the building permit process could be done concurrently with the land use, but we could not issue the building permit until the land use permit was issued. Andy Schwaller March 6, 2014
