Drawer 790 Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 RE: Vacation of County Road 106 through Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) Dear Larry: I have commented previously regarding the proposal to vacate the portion of County Road 106 that runs through the Colorado Rocky Mountain School. As I commented before, I think that vacating the county road will ultimately help improve emergency response to the school and surrounding area. A number of things have changed since I commented in 2009. 1. In 2010, CRMS with the help of County staff, addressed all of the buildings on the campus, an addressing map is attached. Three new mad names were created, Holden Way, Pabst Drive and Whitaker Avenue. These new roads have been entered into the 911 dispatcher's computer aided dispatch system. 2. The mailing address of the school is still 1493 CR 106. This continues to cause confusion for the 911 dispatchers when they attempt to verify the addresses on the campus especially now that it conflicts with the new addressing. The school should change their mailing address, i.e. 500 Holden Way. The school should also confirm with their telephone service provider that their landline telephone numbers are associated with the correct physical addresses as these addresses get pushed to the dispatch center when 911 is dialed from a landline. 3. The confusion with west end of Dolores Way has recently been cleared up. The Carbondale Community School and adjacent residential lot now use Dolores Way as their address rather than CR 106. The County's GIS mapping now will accurately show this as Dolores Way all the way to the historic CR 106 right of way. 4. The section of CR 106 south of the CRMS main entrance has been incorrectly shown as CR 108 on some County maps. This also was recently cleared up with the County's GIS department. I would recommend that this section be renamed to Holden Way. The address numbering on Holden Way was designed to allow for this. If this section were to be renamed from CR 106 to CR 108, the current addressing on CR 108 which begins at the school entrance would conflict with the County's system of addressing by distance. The first CR 108 address west of the school entrance is 0050 CR 108. Changing this section to CR 108 would throw the addressing off by about half of a mile. There are three CR 106 addresses (2093, 2095 and 2099) that are accessed via Eastbank Point which begins at the west end of Main Street in the Carbondale town limits. These homes should be given new Eastbank Point addresses by the County regardless. These addresses are still flagged in the dispatcher's computer aided dispatch system. Please contact me if you have any questions or if I may be of any assistance.
