You may recall that 1 stopped by your office several months ago and spoke to you about this permit. 1 recently sent a letter to Mr. Wilson informing him that the permit was expired. Mr. Wilson called in•for a final inspection so 1 went by to try to finalize it. The problem we have is that no inspections were ever called for. In order for me to close this file I need to verify the framing of the new header that was installed and the bearing under each side. Everything has been covered with drywall and I don't have X - Ray vision. You will either have to strip away enough of the drywall so I can see this or you will have to get the Engineer of record, Bob Oddo, to send me a stamped letter verifying the construction. We need to get this resolved ASAP. If it is not resolved within 30 days the permit will be marked as void and a letter will be recorded with the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder reflecting that the construction was never approved and may not be legally occupied. I also enclose copies of two E-mails, one of which informs us that it would be necessary to engage an engineer (probably for the beam for the increased span due to the width of the new door). The other from Donna Norris indicates that they received the sketch from the engineer and applied for the permit on 12/03/02. It appears that they di;d'ndeed'span the opening with a 6x 10 steel beam header. Hope that':this` is the information that you need. It is all that I have in our files for this matter. Please contact me if'you need to do an additional inspection, as we are in Grand Junction most of the time, but could arrange to meet you at Aspen Glen if that is necessary.
