Our office is the design engineer of record for the noted project. As such, we have been involved with the project since the fall of 2001. In that capacity, Brian Kurtz, P.E. performed structural inspections of the original structure on 11/15/01 and 04/22/02. The original foundation and main floor framing system is structurally adequate to safely support the dead loads and design live loads imposed by the addition and existing structure. On 04/30/02 our office provided a foundation detail to stabilize the existing footings at the transition between the main body of the structure and the lower level space at the north end. We recommended that the additional footings be provided as soon as practicable to stabilize the upper foundation elements, FE ®o®`a3 Y4 a © c o c • It ° :(Liz....., % % °•07, `4 eeoee ;iN,c0 er •. As part of our review we have completed a site inspection on June 24, 2002, reviewed the FEMA mapping (Panne' No. 80205 1855B), and reviewed available topographic data. The home under construction is utilizing a foundation from the previous structure and includes an addition located between the existing foundation and Fourmile Creek. The footers for the addition had been poured before our field inspection. The stem wall will be located 1 -foot above the existing ground elevation. The finished floor of the addition will be at least 1.75 -feet above the ground level. The FEMA mapping for the subject site shows that the floodplain is contained within the channel stream banks. This is supported by field measurements that showed the channel width to be over 82 -feet with a maximum depth of about 12 -feet below the channel bank. The proposed home addition is located outside of the 100 -year floodplain. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call 625-4933. As part of our review we have completed a site inspection on June 24, 2002, reviewed the FEMA mapping (Pannel No.
