Mr. Joe Weinreis 5454 Cr 346 Silt CO 81652 RE: Ortiz Property Flood Plain Dear Joe: February 13, 2002 At your request we reviewed the flood plain map prepared by the Army Corps of Engineers for Garfield and Mesa Counties which pertains to your property near Rulison in Section 35, Township 6 South, Range 95 West, 6"1P.M. The property is located on Map C-63 dated December 1982. The 100 year flood elevation varies from 5,134' (msl) at the upper end of your property to 5,128' at the lower end. The flood elevation at the location of the proposed building envelope is 5,129' ±. The proposed building envelope is approximately 150' X 200' and is shown on the attached map. It lies within the flood fringe and not in the floodway. On February 12, 2002 we visited the site with you and Rich Holsan. It was determined by survey that the existing elevation of the building envelope is 5,128.8' ± 0.5'. We recommend that the home proposed for this site have a minimum flood elevation of 5,131.0. No habitable part of the home should be lower than 5,131.0'. This will be 2' above the 100 year flood elevation. In our opinion construction of the building site will have a negligible impact on flood elevations both upstream and downstream. If we can be of any additional assistance, please call.
