Boice P.E. President May 8, 2001 Engineering & Technical Services Inc. Mr. Frederick A. Troden 514 Canyon Creek Drive PO Box 159 GIenwood Springs, CO 81602-0159 Re: Sun -Porch Lean -To Greenhouses' This letter is to certify that Engineering & Technical Services, Inc:, has performed a structural analysis of the structures referenced above, using the Load requirements set forth in the 1997 Uniform- Building Code (UBC), 1997 Nat;'oal. Building Code (BOCA) and the 1997 Standard Building Code(SBCCI). #..„..., The structures evaluated were standard lean-to models with projections ug to 15 feet. The structural members-are.constructed of 6063-T6 aluminum alloy tub ]lar rafters and verticals spaced at three foot modular centers. The uniform roof slop of the rafters is 1- 1/2 to 12. Our analysis shows that the frame components will safely support a uniformly distributed roof load of 40 pounds per square foot of covered area and forces from a wind speed of C exposure - 90 mph blowing in any direction. The Sun -Porch requires proper support and anchorage to assure acceptable performance of the finished product. The Sun -Porch must be attached to aproperly-designed building wall and base structure to prevent settlement, slippage or uplift. The roof glaxing consists of panels of extruded double-wall polycarbonate made by General Electric under the trade name Lexan. The wall glazing is Rohm & Haas Plexiglas DR acrylic plastic sheets bonded in aluminum -framed panels. If any have any further questions or comments, please advise us. Witl ne D.
