Mr. Arno Ehlers
Garfield County Building Officer
109 8th St.
Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
Dear Arno:
Attache d are plans for review from the Waldorf School and a check for our plan
review fee. Since your last meeting with project architect, Jeff Dickinson, we have
initiated an amendment to the school's conditional use permit to reflect the revised
size of this building. Mark Bean has agreed to hold a hearing in May on the matter
and we expect approval by the County Commission at that meeting.
Given construction agreements with our contractors based on a June 1 start date, we
are requesting that review of the building plans Move forward as planned. We
understand that we will not receive a building permit prior to approval of the
amended CUP. Moving forward on the plan review should allow the school to
receive planning department approval of the building permit immediately after the
Commission's approval is in effect. We understand that we are moving forward at
our own risk.
Thank you for your ongoing advice and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Robert Schultz

Subject: Report Transmittal, Subsoil Study for Foundation Design, Proposed
Aspen Waldorf School, 16543 Old Highway 82, Garfield County,
Colorado
Dear Mr. Schultz:
As requested, we have conducted a subsoil study for the proposed school at the subjecr.
site.
Subsurface conditions encountered in the exploratory borings drilled in the proposed
building area consist of 1 to 2 feet of topsoil overlying dense silty sand and gravel with
cobbles and boulders. Groundwater was not encountered in the borings at the time of
drilling,
The proposed school buildings can be founded on foundations placed on the natural
dense gravel subsoils or on compacted structural fill and designed for an allowable
hearing pressure of. 4,000 psf.
The report which follows describes our exploration, summarizes our findings, and
presents our recommendations. It is important that we provide consultation during
design, and field services during construction to review and monitor the implementation
of the geotechnical recommendations.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact us.
S incerely,
