Re: Thompson Cabin
On site November 20 and December 2, 2015 to observe structural work in progress. Cabin was
moved on to new foundations and structural framing was essentially complete. Correction items
shown in details 7, 8 & 9 dated 9/29/2015, Beam Bearing Repair at Beam Pocket, Footing Extension
Detail and Beam at Concrete Pier were also observed. Work generally appeared per structural plans
with the following items noted:
Item 1: Observed the (5) 9 %" ML beam in place at the south edge of the stair opening without the
5/8" diameter thru bolts in place as noted on plan. However, four of the laminations fit below the
original log wall equally canying the load. Upon review the fifth lamination on the south side of the
beam may be fastened to the rest of the beam with 6" long Timberlock screws at 16" on center in lieu
of the thru bolts.
