Subject: Issuance of Certificate of Occupancy and completion of home
on County Road 320 in Garfield County under Building Permit
#4858.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Barnett:
I understand that a final inspection of your home as completed to this
point has been done by this department. It has been the policy of Garfield
County to issue a Certificate of Occupancy prior to the actual occupancy of
a building. This certificate has not been issued for you property as of this
date.
Under U.B.C. (Uniform Building Code) Section 307 (d) The Building Official
may issue a temporary certificate of occupancy for a portion of a building
prior to the completion of the entire building. Permit #4858 was issued for
a three story five bedroom house of which only the basement portion has
been completed. I am willing to issue this temporary certificate of
occupancy if you the owners will sign an agreement to complete the
weather protection required by the U.B.C. within Thirty (30) days.
In addition, the construction of the house will be required to be resumed
within 180 days. You as the owners may apply in writing for an extension
if there are circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from
resuming construction within 180 days. The extension is for 180 days and
is a one time only extension. If the permit expires without an extension a
new permit application will be required and fees paid before construction
may continue.
If you have any questions please give me a call. I would like to hear from
you within seven (7) days regarding the agreement and the certificate of
occupancy. Thank you, I look forward to your communication on this
