Mr. George Zelenka 390 Vista Drive Silt, CO. 81652 Re: Storage Building Truss Dear Mr. Zelenka; August 27,2008 I have reviewed the design for the roof trusses installed on the subject storage building. The trusses were manufactured by The Barnyard in Fruita, Colorado . My design check was based on plan #101 . The trusses are manufactured with Hem-Fir #2 or Better material and utilize 2 x 4 top chords and king posts, and 2 x 6 bottom chords. Connections are made by :W' plywood gussets glued and nailed on each side of the members. The trusses span approximately 14 feet and are built with a 4:12 pitch. I understand that nails are 8d with the following quantities used: ( 4) ea. at ends of bottom chord, (4) ea. at bottom of top chord, (6) ea. at top of top chord, and (3) ea. at each end of the king post. The design was checked for a snow live load of 40 psf and a dead load of 10 psf. The design was checked for conformance with the 2003 International Building Code and the American Wood Council National Design Specification. My design checks were based the sketch #101 and nailing information provided by you. I have not verified the as built condition through site inspection or photographs. Based on the above I have determined that all the members are in conformance with the referenced codes. All the connections are satisfactory with the exception of the heel connection between the top chord and bottom chord. This connection was found to be marginal considering the nail capacity only. No capacity was considered for the glue. I would recommend that (2) additional 8d nails be installed on the top chord and bottom chord for a total of ( 4) additional nails at each heel. Please do not hesitate to contact me@ 970-984-3949 for any questions regarding this letter or ifl can be of further assistance. Res7 truny ,~ ~d§lo.P.E .
