Prefinished Tropical Hardwoods give
you t he added advantage of saving time
and money with better results.
It's true . Prefinished Tropical
Hardwoods do cost a little more
than unfinished Hardwoods.
But. the up-front investment is
well worth it. Prefinishing makes
installation faster, saves you from
the much higher cost of labor
required to finish unfinished
hardwood boa rds, and lessens the
potential for checking, cupping
and discolo ration.
Prefinished deck boards will cost you roughly 15% more
per lin ea r foot. The cost of labor and materials to fini sh
the m yourself (on all fou r sides) can add up to 40% more
per linear foot. Prefinished hardwoods also eliminate the
recommended two week on-site acclimation time th at
unfinished hardwoods need before finishing can even
start. Then, there is the space required to lay out all you r
unfinished boards so they can be finished. Take all this into
consideration and 15% starts to sound like a bargain.
There is another big advantage to consider. Because the
finish is applied at a commercial facility. we are able to use
a special formu lation that makes it possible for the finish to
penetrate deeper than the finishes you can buy. The finish
is also evenly applied in optimum conditions and quality
tested to ensure you are getting the best hnish possible.
Cost/Time Advantages of Preftnished Tropical Hardwoods
Untreated Hardwoods ·labor and materia l cosls for applying finish
4 0% more per linea r f oot
Pre finlshed H ardwoods · ildditlonal cost for prefinlshing
15% m o re p er linear f oot (a 25% savings ove r u nfini shed )
Untreated Hardwoods · on -site acclimation time before installation
Up t o two weeks to acclimate plus t he time to finish all four sides
Prefinlshed Hardwoods · on-site acclimation time before installation
No accl imation time • can be i nsta lled immediately
Prc fi nis hcd Tropical Hardwood Decking
If you're looking for a hardwood with great color and
dramatic grain patterning, EXTREMETIGERWOOD is an
excellent choice. These distinctive natural qualit ies set
it apart from the rest and have made it one of the most
pop ul ar newcomers to the North American deck scene. It's
the perfect complement to the most elegan t of homes.
Like the rest of our Tropical Hardwood line, beauty is on ly
the beginning of EXTREMETIGERWOOD's appeal. It too is a
great exterior hardwood choice because of its natural
resistance to decay and insects. On the hardness sca le,
EXTREMETIGERWOOD measures 2,160-cedar only 350. It is
kiln -dried to reduce warping, shrinking
and splittin g. And, it is graded clear with
only minor surface defects and no knots
that will split, check or fall out. All this adds
up to a beautiful new deck that will stay
beautiful for years to come.
