Box 9705 Aspen, CO 81612 RE: Pinyon Peaks, Garfield County Potable Domestic Water Systems Dear Sqctt: This report is intenaea to sLfimarize existing data with respect to the propcsed water supply for the above referenced project, as well as to present engineerirq design parameters for the system. I will also discuss the feasibility of irdividual drilled we1ls for lots 1 ard 17, those lots v,itrich are not anticipated to be serviced by the central water system. Water Source The existing well on the site was test p-unped by Samuelson Punp Compa.ny in ttrovember, 1988. The p-unp was tested at 17.5 gpm for four hours with a total dravdown of approximately eight feet. The draradown represented aproximately 10* of the available drar^down itr the well. It is estima- ted that the total well yield, if g.lnped to capacity, rnouLd be some- where between 50 gpn to 100 gpn. Ttre well was also tested for hardness, iron and pH. The water quality is average for deep wel1s in this area. The water vould be classified as "hard"; the total hardness, however, is nct a @ncern from a p:b1ic health standpoint. Fbr waters with this hardness, we r,rould anticipate that some individual water users may opt for water softeners. The water, however, i.s not of sufficient hardness to warrant the @st ard maintenance required in a crentral water Lreatment facility. Tlee iron content of the water is higher than the reconrnended level of A.3 tW/\. ft should be stressed, lowever, that this is a rpn-mardatory reconrnerdation ard the leve1 of iron in the water does not constitute any sort of p:blic health @ncern. Water containing iron of 0.5 tg/L witl t1pically stain plumbirrg fixtures over time ard present a slight detectable taste to those ipt accustqned to drinking the water. Indiv- idual homeowners may or may not elect to install individual water treatment facilities Lo treat iron ontent. As with hardness, the iron content is not of sufficient @ncern to warrant either the expense or maintenance of a centra1 water treatment facility. 1r Srand Avenue, Suite 2-EG rood Springs, Colorado 81601 (303) 945-1004 (303) 925€501 Fax (303) 945-5948 CONSULTING ENG'NEERS & SUFYEYOES l,Iarch 19, 1990 Mr. Scott vfiriter Page tw: Water Source ( continued) [4cica11y, hardness in iron can be dealt with in a single irdividual treatment unit.
