I have reviewed the drawings for the proposed "Pool House" building At Aspen Equestrian Estates. The
drawings ware reviewed for compliance with the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) 1997 edition.
1. UPC 902.2 FIRE APPARATUS ACCESS ROADS - Leslie Hope of High Country Engineering has
submitted a revised site plan. The drawing shows a new looped fire apparatus access road. The road
connects from the west side of the Corral Drive cul-de-sac and rune parallel to Corral Drive on the
west side, connecting back to Equestrian Way between lots C16 and 1320. 1 have had phone
conversations with both Leslie Hope and Janet Lightfoot of Aspen Equestrian Estates. They have
indicated that the pool building will have automatic fire sprinklers installed. The new proposed
access road is acceptable with the sprinulered building. The access road should be appropriately
marked as a fire lane (UFC 901.4). A fire department connection (FDC) wiU need to be provided on
the east side of the building for connection to the sprinkler system.
2. UFC 902.4 REX BOXES. A key box (Knox Box) for fire department access to the building should
be provided The box should 'be located adjacent to main entrance on the building exterior.
