The vegetation in the subdivision is mostly oak brush with a few aspens. The noxious weeds found on the subdivision are contained in the open meadows, disturbed areas and areas the brush has been cleared. These areas are primarily found on Lot 1. There is potential for these weeds to spread into Lot 2 as the lot is developed. Outdoor Services conducted a weed inventory at the Mahan Subdivision on 8-21-2008. The noxious weeds found on the property are Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Canada Thistle, Oxeye Daisy and Houndstongue. Musk Thistle was found as a heavy patch about 150'x75' in size. The key to managing Musk Thistle is to prevent sccd production. Musk Thistle seeds are viable for up to 10 years, therefore these infestations need to be monitored and treated as needed for several years to be eliminated. Plumeless Thistle was found with a Tight infestation in the same area as the Musk Thistle. Successful management is similar to Musk as Plumeless also has a 10 year seed viability and reproduces by seed. Canada Thistle was found along the water line easement and around the cabin_ With 75% of a Canada Thistle plant underground it takes persistence to eliminate a Canada Thistle patch. Canada Thistle spreads primarily by root although the buried seeds may remain viable for 20 years. Oxeye Daisy was found in a patch about 50'in diameter at the south end of the musk thistle patch and also in the area around the cabin. Oxeye Daisy spreads both by root and seeds. The seeds are only viable for two or three years. Houndstongue was found along the roadsides and cleared oak brush areas. Houndstongue spreads by seed. The seeds are only viable for two or three years. The key to successfully eliminating the weeds currently found in the subdivision and preventing new infestations is treating the weeds with herbicide and revegatating the infested and disturbed areas with native grasses and forts. The weeds found in this subdivision should be treated with Milestone and Dicamba in the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009. The currently infested areas as well as any newly disturbed areas should be inspected and treated if weeds are found for 10 years after seed production is eliminated. This responsibility should be written into the covenants for the homeowners association. • 7950 County 0309 Rifle CO 81650 7urr_r?o_nsc Ban Tmotirserion rens gaotn.Jac J000snn nn F2 OlAttdalar7(= ` cotorudo 971 -b25 1002 1,."` e ( 970-618-2800e& 70-618 2840 79511 County Rd 309 Rifle CO 81650 Bill To Mahan Properties 0648 County Road 126 Glenwood Springs CO 81601 lnvolc Date Invoice t 8129!2008 2030 Property Address Mahan Properties 0648 County Road 126 Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 Time Terms NIA Due on rcceip Weed Spraying Chemicals Weed inventory and Management Plan $750 Weed Spraying Fall 2008 $750 Weed Spraying Spring 2009 $500 Thank vau for your business.
