Dear Sir/Madam,
Detail 3/A2.1 of the As-Built Drawings dated 11-20-14, revised 07-09-2014, for the
project noted above calls out the roof framing to be "2x8 joists@24• o.c:. This is
incorrect. The actual roof joists are 2x12 joists @ 24• o.c. According to the 2009 IRC
Table 2308.10.3(5) (30#/sf snow load, with ceiling attached). 2x12 #2 Hem-Fir joists at
24" o.c. will span 17'-3•. The actual span of the roof joists is 15'-4 ~·and should,
therefore, be adequate roof support
Details 1/A2.1 and 2/A2.1 call out the floor joists as 2x10@ 1e· o .c. which is corred.
According to the 2009 IRC Table 2308.8{2) (40#/sf live load for residential living areas),
2x10 #2 Hem-Fir joists @16. o .c. will span 1s·-2·. The actual span of the floor joists is
14'-11· and should, therefore, be adequate structural support.
These joist sizes and spacing were verified through construction photographs taken by
the owner during construction.
