Presumptive load-bearing values shall apply to materials with similar physical characteristics and dispositions. At the time of inspection by the undersigned, the foundation excavation was complete and the footing sub -grade was prepared for placement of concrete. The soils observed were classified as Clayey Gravel with numerous Sedimentary Cobble (6"-12") and Boulder (>12") present. The Clayey Gravel has presumptive load-bearing values of 2000 psf for vertical foundation pressure and 150 psf/ft for Iateral bearing pressure. The sedimentary rock has presumptive Ioad-bearing values of 4000 psf for vertical foundation pressure and 400 psf/ft for lateral bearing pressure. The observed material was as expected and as assumed for design purposes. Based on the open -hole soils inspection the material observed supports the load-bearing assumptions used by the structural engineer for design purposes.
