I have perfonned the structural calculations and detennined that single 2x6 HF#2 studs at 24" o.c., rather than the double 2x4 stud wall originally called for on the approved plans, are sufficient to resist both vertical and lateral loading as required by Garfield County. Holdown studs shall be (2) 2x6 rather than (2) 2x4 and the sill plate can be single 2x6 rather than 2x8 or double 2x4. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. The following changes have been made and approved by me as the Engineer-of-Record: I. Where HDU5 holdowns arc called for on the cast side of the south wall, holdowns attached to trimmers shall have trimmers attached to king studs with l 6d nails at 6" o.c. 2. The two eastern-most windows on the south wall shall have a CS 16 x 11-ft strap installed from the window headers to blocking. 3 . The -I 5" diameter, 9-ft tall exterior log column is sufficient to carry the 1900 lb . load. There should be a minimum of 3.5 "x3.5" solid, un-notched wood remaining at the core. 4. Where ST6224 straps are called out for beam to post connections, Timberloks may be used instead. 5. At the loft framing, a 2" diameter hole for plumbing placed within 36" from the beam end and at the center of the beam section is acceptable. It is also acceptable to notch the beam at the bearing points to 7.5" depth. 6. In order lo notch a wall stud for the shower fixture, a 2x4 wall stud shall be installed adjacent to the notched 2x6 stud and these members nailed together with 16d's at 6" o.c. 7. At the lop of wall framing, a single 2x6 top plate is acceptable, provided CSl6 straps are used at each top plate splice with (9) I 6d nails each side of the splice. Rafters must align directly over wall studs. 8 . Where outlooks are used at the gable ends, 2x4's flat at 36" o.c. are acceptable. 9. The rafter-to-rafter connection over the ridge was originally specified with CS22 straps at every rafter (24" o.c.). In lieu of this connection, CS I 6 straps may be used at every other rafter (48" o.c .). Please do not hes itate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Box 1809 Paonia, CO 81428 tel 970.9485744 www odiseanet.com Re: Underslab bedding and fill around drain pipe at Haines Residence, Satank Lot 2393-284-09-012, Garfield County, CO Inspector: This letter is provided at the request of the owners of the subject property to confinn if the fill placed around the drainpipe under the slab is adequate. We have observed the pipe in-place and offer our recommendation here. The 3" ABS pipe drainpipe in question has been placed, bedded, and shaded using 3" minus road base material. The pipe is currently under pressure and appears to be holding pressure as intended for code compliance. It is our opinion that the bedding and shading material will perfonn adequately in this instance and that a second pressure test be perfonned after the foundation and slab has been poured to confinn the pipe integrity has been maintained.
