GARFIELD COUNTY, COLORADO
INTRODUCTION:
The poposed subdivision is located 2.5 miles North of the
City cf Rifle and 2 miles South of the Rifle Gap Dam. The
118 ccre development is situated on a mesa 150 feet above the
Rifle creek to the East and Government Creek to the West.
The topography within the upper building site area is fairly
flat Wt,h an average of 2% slope to the South. Slopes along the
East :,ide range on the order of 20% to 30% and are
intersected by the main access road. Vegation is mainly
sagebush, cedar and pinion trees and sparse grassland.
Flood Plain Anlysis:
All of the building sites' will be located above contour
elevatbn 5675, which is 75 feet above the adjacent
floodpiin. Encroachment in the adjacent floodplain orea
is noi —existont
Surfdce Drainage.
The Ste genera/1y drains East and West from a diagonal
bisectng the Northwest and Southeast corner of the
develcpment. Because of the extremely low densities
involved, developed runoff will be limited to an increase of
9% or less. The paved road will generate additional runoff
which can be accommodated by using 15" diameter culverts at
all driveway crossings. Present drainage patterns will
remah essentially the same, except where fills are graded
on 103 1 and 3.
Calculations:
Develcped Road Q= CiA=-- 0.9 x 2 x 0.65 = 1.1 cfs
Devellped Onsite: 0= C/A= 0.3 x 2 x (4000 x 15)= 2.4 cfs

Total 26.7 cfs
