Mr. & Mrs. Kennedy:
In the 1988 Uniform Building Code, which Garfield County administers, Section 305(d) states
"There shall be a Final Inspection and approval of all buildings and structures when completed
and ready for occupancy and use".
At your request, a Final Inspection was made on 3/10/93 by this office. At that time, you had
constructed guardrail type barriers in front of two 2nd floor exits in lieu of completing the deck
and requested that a Final Inspection be made and a Certificate of Occupancy issued with the
deck uncompleted. The deck construction will be deleted from the plans submitted to this
office (Building Permit #4535) and by making this alteration to the plans, we can make the
fording that, no substantial hazard will result from the occupancy of the building if these door
barrier modifications remain in place. Prior to the construction of the deck and subsequent
removal of the guardrails, a new building permit for that work will be required.
A copy of this letter will be attached to your file. Based on these conditions, a Certificate of
Occupancy has been issued and has been mailed to you. If you have any questions, please call
or write this office.
