Dear Ms. Claassen: As requested by Dick Benes of CMC Group, Inc., Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc., performed percolation testing at the subject site. The work was done in accordance with our agreement for Professional Services to you, dated May 13, 2002. A profile pit and three shallow backhoe pits were excavated on May 14, 2002 at the locations shown on Pig. 1. The test holes (nominal 12 inch diameter by 12 inch deep) were hand dug at the bottom of shallow backhoe pits and were soaked with water one day prior to testing, The subsoils exposed in the percolation holes were similar to those exposed in the Profile Pit and consisted of about 2 feet of topsoil overlying sand and gravel with cobbles and small boulders to the pit depth of 8 feet. Groundwater was encountered in the pit at a.depth of 8 feet and the soils were slightly moist to moist. The groundwater level probably fluctuates with the nearby Roaring Fork River level. Percolation testing was conducted on May 15, 2002, by a representative of Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. The percolation test results are summarized on Table L Based on the subsurface conditions encountered and the percolation test results, the tested area should be suitable for a conventional infiltration septic disposal system, however due to the potential high water level the system may need to be mounded. A civil engineer should be engaged to design the septic disposal system. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office. Sincerely, HEPWORTH - P FLAK G Jordy Z.
