Re: Plat Amendment
Lot IS-8, Aspen Glen Subdivision
This letter is being written in response to Staffcomments, dated 17 Octob6r 2005.
The first remark that Staff makes regarding the letter submitted from Aspen Glen's
Design Review Committee pertains to 'boundaries of the adjusted envelope'. The
drawing that was submitted, presented and approved is in your packet, labeled as sheet
AR-l. This drawing indicates the extent of the patio addition. The actual'amended plat'
was not presented at that meeting. It was discussed as to the location of the proposed
addition and was presented to all the neighboring property owner's, without objection.
Hence, the approval from the Aspen Glen DRC and supporting letter. we also
represented the envelope adjustrhent at the DRC meeting by indicating on their copies
with pen. Therefore, nothing has changed from our presentation to Aspen Glen. We
have formalized the process and provided the necessary 'amended plat' drawings and
application to further the process. It had never been represented that there was iny type
of setback over and above the existing building envelope prior to I I October 2005. In
fact, it was Aspen Glen that indicated to us that we needed to pursue an plat amendment
application. On 1l October 2005, Staffnotified us that there is an existing 'zone district'
with minimum setbacks. Had we known of this issue, we would probably be presenting
to the Roard of Adjustment requesting a variance with the reasoning submitted in my
narrative to Staff, dated 9 September 2005. The last item pertaining to this evaluation
would be the reference to a 'rear yard setback'. One may interpret this as a 'side yard
setback', due to the proximity and orientation of the home in relation to the accesi point
and floor plan.
The second item addressing an 'open hearth' fireplace is incorrect. This fireplace is
intended to be a gas appliance (hence, the 'FG' symbol representing 'fuel gas'). The
designation of 'fireplace' should read'gas appliance'. The intent is to have an outdoor
living space that can entertain several people durlng all four seasons. This 'fireplace'
was never intended to be a'wood burning' device.
Respectfully submitted,
Brad Jordan, AIA

Re: IS-Ot Orrigon Building Petio Expension Reviery
DearDalg
At th€ DRC mesting of September E, 2005 the DRC rwiewed the building envelop
adjustment proposal as well as providing a preliminary review ofthe plans forthe
ereaflded outdoor living space. It is understood that once the envelop has been adjusted
Mr. Orrison will come back to the DRC for a final review of the plans for the covered
patio. The purpose of this letter is to detail what we will expect at that rwiew.
For the final review please rwise the roof plan for the patio to achieve at minimum 4/12
pitch roo{ include a landscape plan for the immediate areathat will be affected and
include the plan for the shed roof cin the west side of the home.
It was representd to the DRC that the materials, wood trim, shingles and farmer's rock
would match the existing home.
Sincerely,
Leslie Lamont, Administrator
Aspen Glen DRC
