In order to understand the scope of the work intended under a permit application and
expedite the issuance of a permit it is important that complete information be
provided. Adequate and complete information will prevent delays in the plan review
process. Reviewing a plan and the discovery that required information has not been
provided by the applicant may result in the delay of the permit issuance and in
proceeding with building construction. The owner or contractor may be required to
provide this information before the plan review may proceed. This causes delays
because other plans that are in line for review may be given attention before the new
information may be reviewed after it has been provided to the Building Department.
Please review this document to determine if you have enough information to
design your project and provide adequate information to facilitate a plan
review. If you do not, it may be helpful to obtain a book titled "Dwelling
construction under the Uniform Building Code. This book is available to you
through this department at our cost. Also, please consider using a design
professional for assistance in your design and a construction professional for
construction of your project.
To provide for a more understandable plan in order to determine compliance with the
building, plumbing and mechanical codes, applicants are requested to review the
following check list prior to and during design. Applicants are required to indicate
appropriately and to submit completed check list at time of application for a permit:

inspections must be called in by 5:00 p.m. the day before . Failure to give 24
hour notice for inspections will delay your inspection one (1) day.

SI-ALLOUJ FROST FOUNDATION DESIGN
I. Design of individual and continuous footings is based on an
allowable maximum bearing capacity of 2,000 P.S.F.
2. Design of' FROST PREVENTION SYSTEM is inherant in the foundation
design. The deed discribing this real property shall contain
language prohibiting the removal or damage of this insulating
system.
3. Foundation insulation shall be 2 pound density DOW CI-EMICAL
extruded polystyrene, (blue board), in sizes indicated in the
structural details.
4. Footings shall bear upon 2" DOW CHEMICAL INSULATION with a
minimum bearing capacity of 388,00 psi. and then upon a 4" depth of
3/4" washed rock 8 undisturbed soil or concrete fill.
B. Call for engineer's inspection prior to forming footings.

2. Structural concrete shall have a minimum 2S -day compressive
strength of 3,000 P.S.L, For foundations, and 4,000 P.S.I. for
retaining walls, and shall be proportioned utilizing type I cement.
3. Structural slab shall have Fiber mesh at 15 Ib. per cubic yard.
REINFORCINING STEEL
1. Detailing, fabrication, and placement of reinforcing steel shall
be in accordance with the manual of standard practice for detailing
reinforced concrete structure ( ACI 315, latest edition).
2. Reinforcing bar shall conform to ASTM 4 615 and shall be grade
e0 For all retaining walls and grade 40 for Foundations_
3. All corner bars, continuous bars in walls, slabs, and footings
shall be lapped 3& bar diameters. Welded wire Fabric shall be
lapped a minimum of one full mesh plus 2".
4. Except as noted on the drawings, minimum concrete cover for
reinforcement shall be in accordance with ACI 318-77.
5. Welded wire fabric shall conform to ASTM A-185-75.
S. Supply an adequate bond breaker such as 30 L5. Felt between
walls or grade beams anc interior slabs, 1/2" expansion joint at
exterior paving slabs.
7. Place one #5 bar in each face around alt openings, project 2'-0'
past opening.
8. Control and construction joints in slabs on grade shall be
spaced to enclose no more than 400 square feet with a maximum of 2:
feet in any one direction.
