Glenwood Springs Drop Sequence of Operation
Soaring Eagle has outlined the expected sequence of events for the Glenwood Springs Drop Ride.
Sequence of Operation:
1. Operator Enters Drop Room, completes pre-operation checklist.
2. operator opens the "Enter" door and ushers 6 passengers into the room (this door has a spring close feature)
3. Operator secures passenger seatbelts and enters the control room
4. Once in the control room, operator presses the "lock doors" button. This will lock the "Enter" door as well as the
ride operatorrs door accessing the drop room. (ride will not operate without this button being depressed and
sensors indicating all doors are indeed closed and the "Enter" door and operator door are locked)
S. Operator wíll press the "dispatch" button. Once depressed, the program will check to ensure thät the "Enter"
and operator doors sensors indicate they are locked and that the operator emergency exit door and the "Exit"
door sensors show these doors are closed.
6. Operator begins ride. Floor opens, riders drop, riders are retrieved. (The "Enter" door and operator door remain
locked)
7. Riders return to ,,park" posit¡on, floor will automatically close. (sensors will indicate when the floor is closed)
g. when the floor is closed and the ride is secured in "park" position, doors will automatically unlock'
g. Operator will exit the control room into the Drop room, release the passengers and escort them through the
,,exit,, door. (This door will also have spring closed feature) The "exit" door will be monitored to ensure it is
completely closed prior to ride operation. (The exit door will have a push bar on the inside always allowing an
exit, the outside will have a lock requiring a key to temporarily unlock in case of emergency or maintenance)
10. operator will then go to the "Enter" door and escort 6 more passengers to their seats and continue the ride
oPerat¡on as outlined above.
ln case of emergency, the "Er.ìter" and operator doors will have a battery backup near the lock to allow for manual
opening in case of maintenance, power outage or other electrical/control failure. lt is generally discouraged to use this
as both the operators and passengers should have a safe means of egress that does not require any tools or electricity to
operate. Anytime a battery is used to manually open the doors, it is likely that the floor will be in an "open" position
allowing access to the pit. lF A DOOR lS MANUALLY OPENED, ALL PERSONNEL MUST WEAR PROPER FALL PROTECTION
INSIDE THE DROP ROOM.
