There shall be a floor or landing on each side of a door. (1010.1.5) 2. Such floor or landing shall be at the same elevation on each side of the door. (1010.1.5) 3. The floor nr landing shall not be more than 1/2 inch lower than the threshold. (1010.1.7) 4. Landings shall have a width not less than the width of the stairway or width of the doorway, whichever is the greater. 5. ATTIC REQUIREMENTS: 1. Provide an access to all attic areas with a clear height over 30 inches. The minimum size is 20 inches by 30 inches. There must be 30 inches or more clear height above the access. (1209.2) 2. Provide cross ventilation in all attic areas. The net free vent area shall not be less than 1/150th of the area of the attic. (1203.2) Exceptionl: The cross -ventilation area may be reduced to 1/300 provided: 1. In Climate Zones 6, 7 and 8, a Class I or II vapor retarder is installed on the warm side of the ceiling. 2. At least 40% but not more than 50% of the required ventilating area is provided by ventilators located in the upper portion of the attic Upper ventilators shall be located not more than 3 feet below the ridge or highest point of the space measured vertically. 3. Exterior openings shall be protected to prevent entry of birds, squirrels, rodents, snakes and other similar creatures. Where such materials are installed in concealed spaces, the flame spread and smoke developed limitations do not apply to facings, coverings and layers of reflective foil that are installed behind and in substantial contact with the unexposed surface of the ceiling, wall or floor finish.
