Design Loads: Roof (snow): ••••• L.L. = 50 PSF Upper Floor: ••••. L. L. = 50 PSF (Future Garage Floor) 2. The Contractor shall be responsible for the temporary shoring and bracing of all systems and protection of all adjacent structures. 3. The Contractor shall confirm dimensions and elevations shown with architectural drawings; notify Engineer immediately of discrepancies. 4. Notify Engineer if any openings are to be cut in structural systems for mechanical or electrical items. FOUNDATIONS 1. Foundation Design is based on assumed soil properties as follows: Maximum Bearing Capacity= 2,500 PSF. Active Soil Pressure = 45 PCF. Passive Soil Pressure = 300 PCF. Soils are presumed non-expansive, non-soluble, and not prone to excessive consolidation. Specific soil properties shall be verified by the Soils Engineer upon excavation and prior to footing placement. 2. All footings are to bear on undisturbed natural bearing materials or compacted structural fill. Compactive effort for structural fill shall be in accordance with Soils Engineer's recommendations. Bearing soils (natural and compacted) sha 11 be inspected and approved by Soi ls Engineer prior to placement of footings. CONCRETE AND REINFORCING STEEL 1. All concrete used for footings and lower level slab shall attain 3,000 PSI compressive strength within 28 days. Concrete use for the upper level slab sha.11 attain 4,000 PSI compressive strength within 28 days. Use Type II cement with 4% air entrainment. Concrete aggregate shall be normal weight (stone). 2. Perform all cast-in-place concrete work in accordance with ''Specifications For Structural Concrete For Buildings,'' ACI 301-84, unless noted otherwise. Pro- vide cold or hot weather protection per ACI 305 & 306. 3. Reinforcing steel shall conform to ASTM A615. #4 and smaller -Grade 40 #5 and larger -Grade 60 4. Horizontal reinforcing steel shall be made continuous by lapping bars minimum 32 diameters at all splices and providing corner dowels. Fabrication and instal- lation of reinforcing steel shall conform to ACI 315. 5. Provide accessories necessary to properly support reinforcing at positions shown on plans. · STRU,CTURAL STEEL 1. Steel other than pipes shall be ASTM A36 (minimum yield strength=36 KSI). Pipe columns. shall be ASTM A53-B (minimum yield strength=35 KSI). 3. Connection bolts and anchor bolts shall be ASTM A307, unless noted otherwise. 4. Fillet welds shall be made with E70xx rod, size 3/16'' and continuous unless otherwise noted. REINFORCED UNIT MASONRY 1. Masonry unit design, manufacture and installation shall conform to standards set by the Masonry Institute of America. 2. Assembled masonry to develop 1,500 PSI ultimate compressive strength (F'm) in 28 days. Special inspection not required. 3. Concrete masonry units shall conform to ASTM C90, Grade 'N', Type I, lightweight block. 4. Mortar shall be Type 'N' or 'S'. Mortar shall attain l,800 PSI compressive strength within 28 days. 5. Grout shall attain 2,000 PSI compressive strength within 28 days. 6, Reinforcing bars to be deformed bars, minimum yield strength=40 KSI for #4 bars, 60 KSI for #5 bars. Lap reinforcing bar splices 40 bar diameters unless otherwise noted. 7. Reinforce all corners and jambs with minimum 1-#4 vertical, full height, unless otherwise noted. 8. Reinforce. all bond beams with 2-#4 continuous, unless otherwise noted. Extend full height wall reinforcing continuous through intermediate bond beams. 9. Provide continuous horizontal ladder type Dur-0-Wall reinforcing @ 16'', unless otherwise noted. Lap joints minimum 8". 10. Grout all reinforced cells and bond beams solid. Grout all cells below grade solid. 11. Fill voids and grout cells solid a minimum distance of 30" beneath and 12" each side of beam reactions and other concentrated loads. • ·COMPOSIT~ METAL DECK S1N1N6Elf2.. W-/SHof' -si+r ? or .;. 1. Design, fabrication and installation of composite steel floor deck shall conform to the Steel Deck Institute (SDI); Minimum Yield Strength = 40 KSI. 2. Deck shall be 1-1/2" deep by 22 gauge, type 1.5 VL (Vulcraft designation), or equal, with the following minimum section properties: I=0.149 in "4/FT, SP=0.181 in "3/FT, SN=0.189 in "3/FT 3. Decking material shall be galvanized. 4. Attach deck units to steel beams with 1/2'' diameter puddle welds at 12" o.c. 5. Attach side laps per manufacturer's recommendation. 6. Place concrete on deck in a manner to avoid impacts and excessive deck deflections. 7. Submit product literature indicating steel yield strength, deck section properties, and composite deck load capacities. INTERIOR SLABS-ON-GROUND (S.O.G.) l. Unless noted otherwise, interior S.O.G.'s shall be 4" thick concrete slabs placed on a minimum 4'' thick layer of free-draining gravel. 2. All interior S.O.G. 's shall be reinforced with 6x6- Wl.4xWl.4 welded wire fabric unless noted otherwise. Option: Replace mesh with synthetic fiber additive per manufacturer's recommendations and Engineer's approval. 3. Provide slab control joints maximum 12' each way, unless noted otherwise (see typical details). 4. Provide free-draining gravels and compacted fill (where necessary) according to Soils Engineer's recommendations. 5. Compactive effort for gravels, structural fill and existing subgrades which support S.O.G. 's shall be in accordance with Soils Engineer's recommendations. 6. Provide vapor barrier and under-slab drain system according to Soils Engineer's recommendations. August 3, 1993 Mr. Rollin Sininger P.O. I am enclosing an excerpt from the 1988 Uniform Building Code, which states that the permit can only be kept open for six ( 6) months. When the building official issues the permit where plans are required, he shall endorse in writing or stamp the plans and specifications "APPROVED_" Such approved plans and specifications shall not be changed, modified or altered without authorizations from the building official, and all work regulated by this code shall be done in accordance with the approved plans. The building official may issue a permit for the construction of part of a building or structure before the entire plans and specifications for the whole building or structure have been submitted or approved, provided adequate infor- mation and detailed statements have been filed complying with all pertinent requirements qf thi_s_ code. The holder of such permit shall proceed at his own risk without assurance that the permit for the entire building or structure will be granted. (b) Ret'ention Of Plans. One set of appioved plans, specifications and compu- tations shall be retained by the building official-for a period of i:iot less than 90 days from date of completion of the work covered therein; and one set of approved plans and specifications shall be returned to the applicant, and said set shall be kept on the site of the building or work at all times during which the work authorized thereby is in progress. (c) Validity of Permit. The issuance or granting of a permit or approval of plans, specifications and computations shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this code or of any other ordinan~~ _of the jurisdiction. (a) General. Fees shall be assessed in accordance with the provisions of this section or shall be as set forth in the fee schedule adopted by the jurisdic- tion. (b) Permit Fees. The fee for each permit shall be as set forth in Table No. 3-A. The determination of value or valuation under any of the provisions of this code shall be made by the building official. The value to be used in computing the building permit and building plan review fees shall be the total value of all construction work for which the permit is issued as well as all finish work, painting, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, elevators, fire- extinguishing systems and any other permanent equipment. (c) Plan Review Fees. When a plan or other data are required to be submitted by Subsection (b) of Section 302, a plan review fee shall be paid at the time of submitting plans and specifications for review. Said plan review fee shall be 65 percent of the building permit fee as shown in Table No. 3-A. The plan review fees specified in this subsection are separate fees from the permit fees specified in Section 304 (a) and are in addition to the permit fees. Where plans are incomplete or changed so as to require additional plan review, an additional plan review fee shall be charged at the rate shown in Table No_ 3-A. (d) Expiration of Plan Review. Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitation, and plans and other data submitted for review may thereafter be returned to the applicant or destroyed by the building official. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon request by the applicant showing that circumstances beyond the control of the applicant have prevented action from being taken. No application shall be ex- tended more than once. In order to renew action on an application after expiration, the applicant shall resubmit plans and pay a new plan review fee. (e) Investigation Fees: Work Without a Permit. 1. Investigation. Whenever any work for which a permit is required by this code has been commenced without first obtaining said permit, a special investigation shall be made before a permit may be issued for such work_ 2. Fee. An investigation fee, in addition to the permit fee, ~be collected whether or not a permit is then or subsequently issued.
