HomeMy WebLinkAboutEngineer's Memo 06.21.2017MEMORANDUM DATE: June 21, 2017 TO: Edgar Cuc FROM: Frank Rinaldi SUBJECT: Lot 78 lronbridge Subdivision Garfield County, Colorado Lindauer Dunn, Inc. Job #16.132 It was brought to our attention that the structure at the above mentioned address had additional revisions made to the second floor and roof framing beyond what was covered in our June 13, 2017, memo. It is our understanding that the revisions are as follows: • The 2nd floor attic framing is spanning in the opposite direction from what is shown on the plans and is attached to the (2) 11 7/8" ML beam with an HU412 hanger attached to the 22" GL beam. The (2) 11 7/8" ML beam and the HU412 hanger will be acceptable provided that the hanger is attached to the 22" GL beam with (22) 16d nails were used to attach it to the GL Beam and (10) 10d nails into the ML beam. • The living room window header does not have the hanger specified on the drawings. The hanger was specified because the architectural plans were showing the window tight to the corner. It appears that there is adequate bearing for the window header, therefore the header can be attached to the adjacent stud pack with an LS70 clip. • The (3) 11 7/8" 2nd floor beam is attached to the 22" GL beam with and HHUS5.5/10 hanger instead of the HU612 hanger specified. The HHUS5.5/10 hanger has a higher capacity and is acceptable. • The gable ends which were showing 6x8 timber supports are not installed. Since the extended gable ends which had been shown by the architect were eliminated, the timber supports are unnecessary and my also be eliminated. • The trusses at the front entry are adequate. • 2x8 @ 2'-0 o.c. for the porch roofs are adequate. Attach to the house as shown in Detail 6/S6 If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, olvAe a. 41766 ' iAt Frank N. Rinaldi, P.E.
