The findings of our observations are presented in this report. The observations were performed in accordance with our agreement for professional services with Valenz Construction, LLC dated February 6, 2017. Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical (now H-P/Kumar) previously conducted a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site and presented the findings in a report dated February 27, 2015, Job No. 115 055A. The foundation of the proposed residence was designed by Lindauer-Dunn to be supported on forty HP288 Foundation Support helical piers or equivalent. The pier location plan is shown on Figure 1. Our observations of the helical pier installations are presented in the attached Helical Pier Observation Reports. The piers appeared to have penetrated the alluvial fan deposits and achieved torque refusal in the underlying river gravel deposit. Based on the previous subsurface exploration and our current observations at the site, the installed piers appear adequate to support the design service loading capacity of 35 kips. The findings submitted in this letter are based on our observation of the pier installations, our experience in the area and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variations in the subsurface conditions below the helical piers could increase the risk of foundation movement. Our services do not include determining the presence, prevention or possibility of mold or other Valenz Construction, LLC February 23, 2017 Page 2 biological contaminants (MOBC) developing in the future. If the client is concerned about MOBC, then a professional in this special field of practice should be consulted. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
