County Road (Note the Road Number and Name) eric c;\wpwin60\wpdocslplot.loc l3A) Your Neighbor's Name & Address Steve Lister 125 County Road 356 Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 February 18, 20091 RE: AS-BUILT Onsite Wastewater System (OWS) pressured dosed absorption system at Faranhyll Ranch Lot 12, Garfield County Colorado, SE Job No. 27131.01 Dear Mr. Lister: Pursuant to your request and Garfield County requirements, this letter provides documentation that the new Onsite Wastewater System (OWS) recently installed is in general compliance with the permitted design. Sopris Engineering has performed numerous site visits to inspect, and document the as built conditions of the constructed OWS. The as-built size and configuration of the completed systems components were installed in accordance with the design plan drawings. The OWS components have been installed, utilizing specified materials, in accordance with State Regulations, the design presented in the Sopris Engineering design drawings; dated September 12, 2007, revised l 0/31/08. The improvements include the construction of an individual OWS to serve the constructed Residence on the Faranhyll Ranch lot 12 property. As-Built Conditions The pressure dosed system handles the domestic wastewater from the Residence. This system includes a 1250-gallon dual compartment concrete septic tank. The duplex dosing pump/filter assembly discharges effluent to a pressure dosed chamber absorption field enhanced with a layer of filter sand. The chamber with filter sand treatment/absorption system is installed over natural soils and is pressure dosed over 2 zones. The system also was installed with designed full pressure perforated distribution laterals installed in the chambers to disperse wastewater evenly across field. A 4" gravity sewer line has been installed from the building to the tank with a minimum slope of2%. Two individual 1 Yi'' pressure transport pipes were installed from the pump to transpo1t effluent from the septic tank to two separate treatment beds zones. Each absorption field is installed with two chamber rows each with a 1 W' custom perforated distribution late.ral extended the length of the row. These lines have 3/16" orifices every 2' to evenly distribute effluent across the absorptive filter surface. The ends of each distribution lateral are capped with ball valves near the end of the chamber rows below the inspection ports. Additional 3/16" holes are installed, facing downward over a splash plate, to allow drainage of the pipe. The distribution laterals are approximately 40' long and each bed is has a total constructed absorption area 42 feet by 6 feet wide with 6" of placed sand medium. The laterals are anchored with staples to prevent movement and rotation. The beds and chambers are installed level. The total treatment area of the treatment infiltration beds is 504 sq-ft. The two separate beds finished surface is graded to prevent ponding of water. The tank has a 24" and 30" in diameter access risers approximately 3' tall with lids at the surface. The distribution lines from the tank to the beds have a minimum depth of cover of 2' and a minimum slope of 2% to provide positive drainage back into the pump basin. / 502 Main Street • Suite A3 • Carbondale, CO 81623 • (970) 704-0311 • Fax (970) 704-0313 I SOPRIS ENGINEERING • llC civil consultants Steve Lister SE Job No. 27131.01 February 18, 2009 Page2 Sopris Engineering LLC. perfo1med a perc test on October 22, 2008 which indicated an average percolation rate of 21 min/in. This perc rate was nsed to calculate the size of the absorption fields. Percolation test holes were dug by client, inspected and pre soaked by Sopris Engineering 16 hours prior to testing. The average percolation rates in each hole were based on the last three readings of each test. The average percolation rate for the field is based on the combined average of the average percolation rate of each hole. Our design was based on a 26 min/in percolation rate to ensure an appropriate factor of safety. ISDS Operation and Maintenance The system shall be inspected on a regular basis and be properly maintained. The systems and responsibility for repair and maintenance of the systems will remain with the owner. The onsite systems should require minimal maintenance. Several factors influencing the need for maintenance include: actual wastewater flows versus design flows, the volume of domestic waste (excluding human waste and toilet paper), harsh cleaning supply detergents and other toxic liquids that may be introduced into the system. The tank, absorption fields and effluent filters and pump assembly should be visually inspected bi-annually for debris, wear, damage, leaks, or other potential problems. In general, for a properly utilized system, septic tanks should be pumped and inspected every 2-4 years. The effluent filter should be cleaned every six months and at the time of pumping. Absorption fields should be maintained with suitable cover and kept free of root invasive plants. Positive smface drainage away from the absorption fields should be maintained. We recommend that Sopris Engineering conduct follow up inspection and performance checks this spring or late next fall to insure the mechanical systems and other components are operating and fm1ctioning as designed in accordance with the design specifications. If you have any question or need any additional information please call. Sincerely, SOPIRS ENGINEERING, LLC
