Re:
Floodplain Study - Margaret Smith Property, Sections 32 & 33,
Township 7 South, Range 87 West, Garfield County, Colorado
Dear Bob:
We have analyzed the 100 -year floodplain along the
Roaring Fork River 4 miles east of Carbondale as it relates
to the above property. Based on cross-sections in the field,
the 100 -year floodplain will cover an area approximately
500 feet north of the river to a depth of 1 foot. This is
essentially a sheet -flow condition with broad, shallow over-
land flooding occurring throughout the area.
Minor development without extensive land filling can take
place without raising the flood height over 1 foot. The Federal
Insurance Administration definition of a floodway fringe would
apply to this property.

Percolation Tests - Margaret Smith Property, Garfield County, CO
Dear Mrs. Smith:
On September 27 we attempted to perform percolation
tests on your property at the location shown on the enclosed
map. We found the water table to be about 2' below the ground.
The soil was a mixture of silty clay and large stones. It
appeared that the irrigation ditches in the area were causing
the high water table.
Based on the field data we would recommend an alternate
sewage disposal system such as an evapotranspiration bed be
installed to meet the County requirements.
Sincerely,
Martin S. Oldford, P.E.

Dear Ms. Andreasen:
C.J, KUIPER
State Engineer
We have reviewed the above applications for exemption from County
subdivision regulations. We feel that a dependable water supply will be
available from individual exempt domestic wells which will produce water
tributary to the Roaring Fork River. We recommend approval of the Smith
and Groom -Weatherly Exemptions.
